Officer Wayne Wiberg
I have 25 years as a Chicago Police officer. I began my career as a Police Officer in 1994 and was assigned to the 023rd district at Addison and Halsted. I held numerous assignments to include the SWAT team for 3 years. After six years I was promoted to Detective and investigated both homicides and robberies. I was promoted to Sergeant and held that position for 10 years. I spent 5 of those years as a SWAT team Sgt. In 2014 I was promoted to Lieutenant and worked in the 005th District as well as Englewood (007) before making my way to 020 where I serve as the Tactical Lt. The majority of my career I have worked in some sort of tactical capacity, have been involved in numerous high risk search warrants and active shooter situations. I have a Masters Degree in Criminal/Social Justice and teach as an adjunct professor at Harold Washington College. I have become somewhat of a subject matter expert on the topic of active shooter and have instructed numerous classes to many of the downtown high rises such as Willis Tower and the John Hancock building.
