Alpaca Soap Felting Class - Fun Activity for Adults & Kids! In this class, we will be wet felting alpaca fiber over soap. Sometimes known as 'soap in a coat', the finished product is your soap and washcloth all in one - creating a type of self-sudsing loofah. This soap lasts longer, won't crack when it dries out, and the soap scum that soap normally sits in is eliminated. Plus, the felt gently exfoliates your skin as you wash. Alpaca fiber is naturally anti-bacterial and hypo-allergenic.
We'll have various fiber colors and soap scents to choose from. Easy project for adults and children and it's great for gifts! They can also be used for decorating and drawer sachets.
In this class you'll get tips on wet felting and needle felting and have an overall fun time! Adults will be using a vegetable peeler (and a sharp needle if you would like to needle felt a design on your 'soap coat'). Children can safely felt a design during the wet felting process without using a felting needle.
Alpaacas are never harmed to obtain fiber. They are shorn once a year, usually in May. Like sheep, their fiber is shaved to allow them to be cooler in the hotter temperatures as they are prone to heat stroke. See, everyone wins!
