Compassionate Response to People Experiencing Homelessness Tuesday, September 14, 2021 - (10 - 11:30 AM)
Nearly 77,000 Chicago residents are homeless, a third of whom are youth. Many of those experiencing homelessness are survivors of domestic violence, with LGBTQ and BIPOC individuals and disproportionately represented. Join us for an interactive workshop that raises awareness of the circumstances facing homeless residents and highlights how Chambers of Commerce and businesses can support this population.
In this session, we will:
● Understand the circumstances surrounding people experiencing homelessness
● Support sensitive engagement of homeless residents and provide member and district businesses with the tools to engage in a safe and effective manner.
● Identify concrete ways in which participants can effectively address triggered responses that could otherwise escalate if not handled appropriately
● Grow familiar with the resources
