Learning Objectives:
• Attendees will gain an increased awareness and understanding of people in our community who communicate differently.
• Attendees will gain a basic knowledge about best practices in making their hiring practices and workplaces more inclusive.
• Attendees will gain the ability to engage in fruitful conversations and interactions with the entire community.
• Attendees will obtain community resources for future learning and community influence.

• Find out more about Anixter and the services we provide
• Reflect upon current practices when interacting with people who communicate differently
• Person-Centered Approach and Inclusivity vs. ADA Compliance
• Overview of Intellectual and/or Developmental disabilities (I/DDs), including autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).
• Overview of Mental Illness (MI) and some specific mental health conditions
• Overview of Deafness, DeafBlindness, and Hard-of-Hearing, with a special focus on Deaf culture. Communication options and approaches to increase accessibility through inclusivity
• Making a workplace culture inclusive of people who have I/DD, MI, and/or people in the Deaf community
• Staying informed and spreading awareness, promoting inclusivity in staff recruitment and workplace culture
• Discussion - what can attendees do today to make their business/organization more inclusive
• Resource sharing
